CREDIT REQUIREMENTS AND SCAFFOLDING

As indicated, the BSc will be awarded at the completion of 62 credits

The MSc coursework will be completed at the end of 42-3 credits (and therefore, students will be allowed to book their graduation ceremony)

However, the degree will not be awarded until full completion of the thesis research, oral defense and submission of the thesis manuscript

SAMPLE SCHEDULE FOR THE 5 YEARS

Note in particular the scheduling of the core courses which are scaffolded for faster completion of the degree, as well as the common core and electives

Ideally, for a 5 year graduation timeline, thesis research should start in the Spring and Summer of Year 4, and writing be completed by mid-Spring of Year 5, with the thesis defense scheduled for the end of that semester

I AM A JUNIOR, CAN I APPLY?

Unfortunately, w3w. BUT we strongly encourage you to apply to the regular MSc as fees and some credits will be waived. Apply here.

DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE GRE?

IS FINANCIAL AID AVAILABLE?

Financial aid is available while you do your BSc, but as you switch to the graduate school in year 4 (Fall), it will no longer be. You can apply to loans or scholarships at CUNY

CAN I GRADUATE IN 5 YEARS, REALLY?

Easy one: NO - you will automatically be accepted in the graduate school upon complete of your 62 credits BSc

It all depends on your thesis research, writing and defense. All coursework will be completed by Spring of Year 5. To complete the degree, however, you must complete your thesis
